Recommend that all new docs are written in rst?

Given that the docs recommend using rst for equation-heavy docs, could it be worth recommending that rst is used as standard? I find it quite annoying that when you want to add equations to some md docs you have to consider converting the whole thing to rst. I understand that md can be nice for short wordy pages but often docs evolve in unforeseen ways and therefore having a format that allows for a wider range of possibilities (e.g. having lots of equations) seems sensible to me. Also, I find it a bit messy having both file types being used. But perhaps there are good reasons for not doing this?
